Newport
This shot was taken at Tredegar Park in Newport. Every time I go there I think of my childhood summers when we’d go down for the day and spend
time in the paddling pool or on the spider-climbing frame, which sadly isn’t there anymore due to Health and Safety.
Then, as I got older, it become a place to go to play tennis and to explore down by the river front. As
an adult it’s a great for walking the dog, going for a run and sunbathing on those rare sunny days.
The history of the Morgan Family and Lord Tredegar
surrounds Tregedar Park, while Tredegar House, just a short walk away, is ideal for a scout around. Of course, another good thing about Tredegar
Park & House are all the Dr Who/Torchwood spoilers you can get – they do a lot of filming around this area so you
often get to see what’s going on before it hits the screens.
This picture is just a
short walk from my home, the one thing I got excited about when I moved to this area was its closeness to the Monmouthshire Canal. The stretch of canal
goes along the 14 locks and takes you up to High Cross where there’s a fabulous café, which is perfect for a coffee before heading back.
